Ghana and Nigeria over the years have had a healthy rivalry in very various disciplines like sports (football), movies, culture, great and solid friendship and music. Ghana and Nigeria are neighboring countries who share a common border together. In a more recent times, Ghana and Nigeria have been in serious “battle” and “beef” over which of the two neighboring countries prepare the best Jollof. The two passionate countries seem to love and hate each other, and both feel Jollof is the best in terms of “Taste”. The Jollof feud between Ghana and Nigeria is arguably the most heated food debate amongst any diaspora convo to the extent that world renowned media platforms like CNN, BBC, VOA , Aljazeera etc have all profiled the Ghana and Nigeria Jollof contest and debate. Musicians and Celebrities have joined in the banter too, with Akon claiming Liberian Jollof is the best, even though he is from Senegal. Ghanaians use aromatic basmati rice, which gives it extra flavor, while Nigerians use long grain rice,believing that it is best for absorbing flavor. Unlike the Nigerian jollof, Ghanaian Jollof has a higher tomatoe flavor composition
The music market has become very big and competitive between these two countries, not only in their countries of origin but in Europe and the diaspora. The various countries by default have award schemes that reward these talented individuals. But there is no scheme that brings the rivalry to bare musically like football does. Hence the introduction of the GHANA NIGERIA MUSIC AWARDS.

The Ghana Nigeria Music Awards, GNMAs, is bringing together on one music awards platform the two biggest music exports in Africa and also the two countries leading Afrobeats in the world at the moment.

The Ghana Nigeria Music Awards is instituted to reward hardworking and formidable music talents from these two great music countries. The First Edition of the Ghana Nigeria Music Awards Festival (GNMAs) comes off in July 2022 at the world’s Famous and well renowned Fox Theater in Atlanta Georgia USA and later in the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom in September 2022. The Festival and Awards will also hit Africa in Ghana in December 2022.
The First Editions are in the pilot phase and right after the pilot phase we intend to bring onboard other African, Jamaican, Carribeans and Black Diaspora Artistes to be part of this great Event, which would eventually become a competition to the Grammys. We are by this awards selling and sending our rich music and culture to the USA and the United Kingdom in particular.
The value via reach, leverage, coverage and networking the scheme (GNMAs) brings is priceless. The GNMAs allows for qualification of acts from Ghana and Nigeria who have been active in the year under review from June 2020 to December 2021. Acts eligible have already filed for nominations via website (www.gnmafestival.com). They could also be nominated by the board after thorough monitoring and evaluation. The nomination period was however opened for entries from 15th February to 15th March 2022. The Scheme has 37 categories which spans from Gospel, Afrobeats, HighLife, Reggae, Dancehall among others.
